// 01 — About Osmosis

What is Osmosis?

Osmosis (OSMO) is the largest DEX in the Cosmos ecosystem and the routing hub for inter-chain liquidity via IBC. Mainnet launched in June 2021. The chain hosts hundreds of liquidity pools, has integrated with Revolut for fiat ramps, and serves as the de-facto trading venue for nearly every Cosmos-native asset.

OSMO holders stake their tokens with validators to secure the chain and earn inflation rewards. The active set is fixed at the top 150 validators by stake. Osmosis governance has been particularly active — a long history of community proposals around tokenomics, fee policy, and protocol upgrades.

On March 6, 2025, our original Osmosis validator was tombstoned after a Horcrux v3.3.1 race condition produced two near-simultaneous signatures for block 30968345 (1.5 ms apart). The bug was disclosed by Strangelove Ventures in GHSA-6wxf-7784-62fp and patched in v3.3.2 within 28 hours. We reimbursed all 4,650 affected delegators in full from our operational reserve and launched the current validator. Full post-mortem at /blog/one-point-five-milliseconds-osmosis-horcrux-incident.

// 02 — Why stake with 01node

Receipts, not promises.

01

Operator since 2021, full reimbursement on disclosed incident

01node has run Osmosis since the 2021 mainnet launch. The March 2025 Horcrux incident (vendor bug, fully reimbursed) is documented at /security#disclosed-incidents — zero net delegator loss.

02

Horcrux v3.3.2+ with single-mutex fix

Same threshold-signing architecture as Cosmos Hub, on the patched Horcrux version that eliminates the race condition exposed in March 2025.

03

Active governance participation

We vote on every Osmosis proposal with published rationale. Verifiable on Mintscan governance.

04

5% commission, in the active set

Competitive commission for the top-tier operator group. Live rate always shown in your wallet before signing.

05

Bandwidth-tuned for fast chains

Osmosis block times reward operators with low-latency peering. Our 20 Gbps+ AS41536 transit is built for this.

// 03 — How to stake

Four steps, two minutes.

  1. 01

    Open Keplr (or Leap, Cosmostation)

    Osmosis is supported natively in all major Cosmos wallets.

  2. 02

    Click "Stake" on this page

    Deep-links to Keplr with our current Osmosis validator pre-selected on osmosis-1 (the old validator was tombstoned in March 2025; this is the new address).

  3. 03

    Confirm OSMO amount and sign

    Leave a small buffer for transaction fees and future actions. The unbonding period is 14 days, faster than Cosmos Hub.

  4. 04

    Rewards accrue per block

    Osmosis distributes rewards continuously. Claim or restake at any point — there is no cliff.

// 04 — Risks & trade-offs

What you should know.

  • Unbonding lock

    14-day unbonding window during which OSMO earns no rewards and cannot be moved.

  • Slashing risk

    Standard Cosmos slashing model — 5% for double-sign, smaller for downtime. One disclosed slashing incident on Osmosis (March 2025, Horcrux v3.3.1 vendor bug), fully reimbursed. All 4,650 affected delegators were made whole from our operational reserve.

  • Active set fluctuation

    If we drop below the top 150, rewards stop until we re-enter. Continuous active-set presence since the new validator launched in March 2025.

// 05 — Frequently asked

Osmosis staking FAQ.

What is the unbonding period for Osmosis (OSMO)?expand_more

14 days. Faster than Cosmos Hub’s 21 days. During this window OSMO earns no rewards and cannot be transferred.

I see 01node was tombstoned on Osmosis. What happened?expand_more

On March 6, 2025, our original Osmosis validator was tombstoned after a race condition in Horcrux v3.3.1 produced two signatures 1.5 ms apart for the same block. Strangelove Ventures (Horcrux maintainer) disclosed the bug in GHSA-6wxf-7784-62fp and patched it in v3.3.2. We reimbursed all 4,650 affected delegators in full from our operational reserve. The current validator on this page is the replacement validator launched after the incident. Full post-mortem: /blog/one-point-five-milliseconds-osmosis-horcrux-incident.

Were delegators reimbursed in full?expand_more

Yes. 4,650 delegator addresses received refunds totaling 75,305,896,736 uOSMO (~75,306 OSMO) — the exact amount slashed by the protocol. Refunds were issued from 01node’s operational reserve as direct on-chain transfers.

Why is Osmosis APR so much lower than other Cosmos chains?expand_more

Osmosis has reduced its inflation target over time as the chain matured and fee revenue from DEX activity grew. The current APR reflects that lower inflation; chains with higher inflation (Babylon, Lava) compensate validators differently.

How does Osmosis governance work?expand_more

OSMO stakers vote on proposals proportional to their stake. Validators vote on behalf of their delegators by default; delegators can override with their own vote at any time. We publish rationale for every vote.

What's 01node’s commission on Osmosis?expand_more

5% — verifiable on Mintscan and in your wallet before signing.
